The IRB 1520ID is ABB’s dedicated hollow‑arm robot optimized for arc‑welding applications. Hoses and welding cables are integrated inside the upper arm and base. Power supply, welding wire, shielding gas, compressed air and other arc‑welding media are routed internally. With 4 kg payload and 1.5 m reach, it supports floor‑mounted and inverted installation. Equipped with 2nd‑generation TrueMove™ and QuickMove™ technology, it ensures high path accuracy, short cycle time and long service life of cables. It is ideal for mass‑production arc welding of small‑and‑medium workpieces, and also applicable for light‑duty machine tending and material‑handling tasks.
It works with FlexPendant teach pendant. Off‑line programming and virtual arc‑welding simulation are available via RobotStudio for fast commissioning. ABB remote‑service supports remote equipment monitoring and technical assistance.
Product Characteristics:
- Rated payload 4 kg for light‑duty tasks. Positioner or 7th‑axis ground rail can be applied to extend working range for large workpieces.
- Cables are routed inside hollow arm. Cable replacement requires disassembly following ABB official procedures; internal cable kits are model‑specific spare parts.
- Optimized for arc‑welding process. Custom end‑of‑arm tooling is required when used for grinding, cutting or other processes.
- Compact mechanical structure. Adequate ventilation is recommended under continuous heavy‑duty operation. Extra environmental protection is suggested for dusty or high‑temperature workshops.
